How does Mucosamin® work

Mucosamin® contains hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate), which is the main component of connective tissue and amino acid precursors of structural proteins of the extracellular matrix.3,4

Mucosamin® is an approved Class IIa medical device and consists of a natural polysaccharide that forms a mucoadhesive layer on the surface epithelial cells of the oral mucosa.4

a) Forming a protective barrier that helps promote healthy regeneration of tissue (this is its main “mode of action”).4

b) Hyaluronic acid and amino acids help the reepithelialisation of the oral mucosa, helping to stimulate cell growth.4

When used at the start of chemotherapy or radiotherapy, Mucosamin® Mouthwash hydrates and protects the oral mucosa, in order to help to reduce the incidence of mucositis.4

Mucosamin® can be used to hydrate the oral mucosa.4
Hyaluronic acid acts as an antioxidant for inflamed body tissues, protecting body tissue from free radical damage and supporting immune function by inhibiting germs and viruses from moving between cells and getting into cells.6

Mucosamin® creates a protective film that covers and helps to protect the mucosa, helping to reduce the pain and burning sensations induced by oral mucositis.4

Mucosamin® creates a protective film that covers and helps to protect the mucosa.4 Mucosamin helps to promote the wound healing process and repair of the oral mucosa.4,6
